Description

Moonscope

Moonscope is Akash Darpan's true beginner telescope — designed for a child, student, or first-time stargazer's very first look through a real telescope. Its 50mm lens is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry, set up, and hand confidently to a first-time user without a steep learning curve.

Sharper by Design

Most 50mm beginner telescopes use a short 300-360mm focal length for a wide, forgiving field of view. Moonscope takes a different approach with a 700mm focal length — longer than any comparable telescope in its class — delivering sharper, higher-contrast images with less color fringing, especially when observing the Moon and planets.

Honest Magnification, No Inflated Numbers

ome competing telescopes advertise magnifications of 150x or even 300x on a 50mm lens. For context, the realistic useful magnification ceiling for a 50mm aperture is roughly 100x — beyond that, images simply grow dimmer and blurrier, not more detailed. Moonscope's 25mm and 10mm eyepieces are chosen specifically to deliver genuinely sharp, usable views at 28x and 70x — real performance you can trust, not a number printed on the box.

Specifications - Aperture: 50mm - Focal length: 700mm (f/14) — the longest focal length of any comparable 50mm beginner telescope on the market today - Optical design: Refractor - Included eyepieces: 25mm (28x magnification) and 10mm (70x magnification) Sharper by Design Most 50mm beginner telescopes use a short 300-360mm focal length for a wide, forgiving field of view.

What You'll See

The Moon is where Moonscope truly shines — expect crisp views of major craters, mountain ranges, and the dark lunar "seas" (mare), especially near the terminator line where shadows reveal the most texture. Saturn's rings are clearly visible as a distinct ring shape (not just a blur) at 70x, and Jupiter's four largest moons appear as sharp points of light beside the planet, shifting position night to night. Bright double stars and star clusters like the Pleiades are also rewarding targets.

Who It's For

Ideal as a genuine first telescope for children and beginners — the goal is a confidence-building, uncomplicated introduction to real astronomy. Designed and Manufactured in India Moonscope is built by Bharat Dome Innovation Pvt Ltd, recognized at Elevate 2025 for our work in telescope manufacturing. Unlike many telescopes sold in India, Moonscope isn't imported and resold — it's designed, made, and supported here, backed by a team also running TTI Academy, our free astronomy training initiative for students and teachers.
